Fairfood International is a non-profit campaign and lobby organization, which encourages the food and beverage industry to increase the level of sustainability of its products. In this way, Fairfood contributes to the fight against hunger and poverty across the globe. Fairfood is in contact with more than 1300 companies in over 60 countries worldwide to encourage them to increase the level of sustainability of their products.

Project Assistant Press
(2 days/week, unpaid)

Department
The Communications Department's main responsibility is to support Fairfood’s lobby work towards brand owners by creating constant public awareness for Fairfood’s work among various target groups. The department is directed by the Manager Communications and it consists of four international projects (E-campaigning, Creative Design, Website and Copywriting) which have a support function towards the five national projects (Stunts NL, Press NL, External Relations NL, based in Amsterdam, Communications UK, based in London, and Communications Germany, based in Berlin).

Function
In this position, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the introduction of Fairfood International in Germany. You will support the Berlin-based Project Leaders by helping to implement and further develop Fairfood’s communication strategy.
As Project Assistant Press, you will be faced with a great variety of tasks. Among other, you will be responsible for: Establishing and maintaining contact with media partners, journalists and press; Drafting, writing and translating articles and texts; Maintaining and expanding a press database; Administrative tasks using various administrative systems. You will report to the Project Leader Communications Germany.

Your competencies
You are studying at or have graduated from a university, preferably with a focus on journalism, communications, political science or humanities or you have acquired an equivalent level of maturity and/or work experience. You possess excellent verbal and written skills in German and good skills in English. Ideally, you have already gained some experience in the field of communications and journalism or at an NGO. You enjoy facing challenges, and you are able to develop new ideas and present them to your colleagues in a structured manner. You are a team player, but you are also able to structure and plan your work independently. You show initiative, are result-oriented and able to set priorities. Obviously, you have affinity with Fairfood’s goals.

This is an unpaid position which is suited as an internship to acquire work experience in the field of communications and at an NGO. We offer a versatile position within a young international organisation. You will have the freedom and opportunity to continue developing yourself and achieve tangible results. We value our employees and we fully recognise that flexibility in the amount of working hours might be important for you. To create a beneficial relationship for both parties, however, we prefer that you work for at least sixteen hours a week for a minimum period of three months.
